Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel during 1988's presidential debates, which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra saga. She traveled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
